14th ASEAN-China Summit as Commemorative Summit to be held in Bali on 18 November 2011

The 14th ASEAN-China Summit as a Commemorative Summit to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ASEAN-China Relations will be convened in Bali, Indonesia on 18 November 2011. The Summit will be chaired by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as Chair of ASEAN, and attended by the Heads of State/Government of the ASEAN Member States and the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Wen Jiabao. The Secretary General of ASEAN was also in attendance.
The Summit will also discuss the efforts of ASEAN and China to maintain the peace, security and stability in the region, including those related to South China Sea.
Furthermore, the Summit will take stock on cooperation between ASEAN and China and to deliberate the future direction of the dialogue partnership, including the progress of the implementation of the Plan of Action to Implement the Joint Declaration for the period of 2011-2015.
The Summit is also expected to adopt the ASEAN-China Joint Leaders’ Statement on the 14th ASEAN-China Summit as a Commemorative Summit.
Soon after the Summit, the Head of States/Governments of ASEAN Member States and China will officially launch the ASEAN China Centre. The Centre is aimed to support cooperation on trade, investment, tourism, education and culture between ASEAN and China.(genk)
